Scripture Memory App

I originally shared this on Facebook for anyone doing Beth Moore’s new Bible study, Entrusted, and accepting the challenge to memorize 2 Timothy because it has really helped me. However, it is an app that anyone can use.

When we were younger, memorizing scripture was a norm for Sunday School. Not so much as adults. Yet, in my adult Sunday School book, there it was…memory verse. Psalms still applies to us and now, more than ever, we need to continue to hide God’s Word in our hearts.

The Bible Memory: Remember Me app is great for both audio and visual learners. You can just read and/or repeatedly have the verses read to you. You can pick your translation, PLUS…

1. It lets you read and each time you click on the cloud at the bottom of the screen, it covers more words till the whole verse is covered. If you can’t remember a covered word just click on it and it shows the word as it is read to you.

2. You select the words in order to write the verse.

3. It has just the first letter of each word to prompt you as you say the verse to yourself. And after you’ve said it you can have it revealed and read the verse word by word or by phrase.

4. You have the blanks to fill in. Don’t worry about spelling because as you say it to yourself and tap on the first letter of the correct word for the blank, it fills in the rest of word as it’s read to you.

The other plus is that you put in the verses as you want. When I started memorizing 2 Timothy, it made sense to do them two at a time to finish the “sentence”. But then after getting to verse 4 I went back and put in verses 1-4, and after finishing verse 6, went back and added verses 1-6 to test myself on them as a chunk. Don’t know what’s the most verses you can put in as one “assignment” but I guess I’ll find out as I progress thru the first chapter of 2 Timothy.

Would love to hear what verses or portions of scripture you are memorizing and what they mean to you.

  1. Great idea! That’s how I used to teach my kids to memorize, using cards, removing cards as they learned more and more of the verse. Of course, God would use technology to help us get the Word in our hearts. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Exactly! Yet when I first shared this app with a couple friends at work, they thought it was too childish, not realizing that we don’t use these techniques with kids because it’s on their “level” but because the techniques actually work to help with the memorization.
